Saudi Arabia Unveils 15-Stadium Plan for 2034 World Cup

Saudi Arabia has set out a plan to stage the 2034 FIFA World Cup across 15 stadiums in five host cities: Riyadh, Jeddah, Al Khobar, Abha, and NEOM. The blueprint mixes existing venues with new construction to accommodate the tournament.

the 15 stadiums break down into four existing venues, three currently under construction, and eight planned new builds. Public descriptions of the plan also frame it as 11 new stadiums alongside four existing venues set for renovation or upgrade.

The three under-construction stadiums are due for completion between 2026 and 2027. Aramco Stadium in Al Khobar is scheduled for 2026, while Prince Faisal bin Fahd Sports City Stadium in Riyadh and Jeddah Central Development Stadium in Jeddah are both slated for 2027.

Landmark venues

King Salman International Stadium in Riyadh is expected to be the Kingdom's largest, with a capacity of more than 92,000 seats. In NEOM, the planned NEOM Stadium is described as sitting 350 meters above ground, with construction expected to run from 2027 to 2032.

The named venues span the five cities and include King Fahd International Stadium, Prince Mohammed bin Salman Stadium, Murabba Stadium, Roshn Stadium, South Riyadh Stadium, King Saud University Stadium, King Abdullah Sports City Stadium, Qiddiya Coast Stadium, King Abdullah Economic City Stadium, and King Khalid University Stadium.

For residents and visitors, the plan signals a major expansion of sports and entertainment infrastructure over the coming years, with new stadiums, transport links, and hospitality expected to reshape host cities well ahead of the tournament.
