Saudi Bank Lending to Private Firms Climbs in 2026

Bank lending to private companies in Saudi Arabia continued to expand in early 2026, reflecting steady demand for credit across the Kingdom's business sectors. Outstanding loans from Saudi banks to the private sector rose roughly 7–8% year-on-year in the first quarter of 2026, reaching an estimated SAR 3.10–3.21 trillion.

When combined with lending to non-financial government entities, total bank credit stood at around SAR 3.43–3.46 trillion in early 2026, an increase of about 8–10% compared with a year earlier. Corporate loans in particular showed strong momentum, reaching around SAR 1.92 trillion in April 2026 with year-on-year growth of about 11–12% — outpacing the growth in retail lending.

Where the money is going

The most recent detailed sectoral data, covering up to late 2025, show that large shares of credit went to manufacturing, construction, wholesale and retail trade, electricity and utilities, and real estate. Financing for micro, small and medium enterprises also grew strongly through 2025, with cumulative facilities to MSMEs reaching around SAR 467 billion by year-end and annual growth above 30%.

Commercial lending terms — including interest rates, fees, collateral requirements and durations — are set by individual banks under Saudi Central Bank regulations. These are not published as unified national rates and vary by bank, sector and client profile.

For residents and business owners in the Kingdom, the figures point to a financing environment that remains active and accessible for companies seeking to expand, invest or modernize their operations. Sustained credit growth is closely tied to the private-sector activity that underpins jobs and services in cities such as Riyadh and Jeddah.
