Saudi Banks' Net Loans Hit $865bn in Q2 2026

Net loans extended by Saudi Arabia's 10 listed banks reached about SR 3.25 trillion (roughly $865.2 billion) in the second quarter of 2026, rising 7% year-on-year and around 2% compared with the previous quarter, reflecting continued expansion of credit across the economy.

Total deposits at these banks stood at about SR 3.15 trillion in the same quarter, up nearly 9% year-on-year and around 3% quarter-on-quarter — outpacing loan growth and pointing to a healthy funding base for further lending.

Broader credit picture

Across the wider banking system, total bank credit to the private and public sectors reached about SR 3,355.2 billion in the first quarter of 2026, an 8.2% annual increase. Credit to the private sector alone was about SR 3,100.7 billion, up 7.5% year-on-year, while lending to the public sector grew by roughly 17.1% over the year.

Real estate loans made up the largest share, at about SR 970.9 billion, or nearly 28.9% of total credit, growing 6.7% annually. Consumer loans stood at about SR 481.1 billion (14.3% of total credit), while credit card loans reached about SR 34.1 billion, up 11.1% year-on-year despite a slight quarterly dip.

Among individual lenders, one listed bank reported net loans and advances of about SR 117.3 billion in the second quarter, an 8.2% annual rise.

For residents and businesses, the figures signal that banks remain willing and able to fund homes, purchases and business expansion — a sign of steady economic activity and confidence across the Kingdom.
