Tabby Gets SAMA Consumer and SME Finance Licences

Fintech company Tabby has secured two new regulated licences in Saudi Arabia — a consumer finance licence and an SME finance licence — issued by the Saudi Central Bank (SAMA). The licences, granted on 29 June 2026, follow the company's earlier buy-now-pay-later licence in 2025 after it graduated from SAMA's regulatory sandbox.

Under the consumer finance licence, shoppers in the Kingdom can now finance purchases above SAR 2,000, with a maximum financing limit of up to SAR 50,000 payable over as many as 12 monthly instalments. The company's existing BNPL product remains available for smaller purchases, offering 3 to 4 interest-free monthly payments, which were previously capped at around SAR 5,000.

The financing plans are structured as Shariah-compliant Murabaha, with the total cost agreed upfront, no compounding of charges, and no late fees. Customer fees and the annual percentage rate vary by plan and are displayed at checkout within the app or at partner merchant checkout flows.

Instalments are available at a range of retailers online and in outlets, including Noon, IKEA Saudi Arabia, Fitness Time, Almanea, travel platforms Almosafer and Almatar, and flynas, on eligible baskets above SAR 2,000.

For businesses, the SME finance licence allows Tabby to provide regulated working capital financing to retailers and small and medium enterprises on its platform, including smaller e-commerce companies. This is offered as regulated SME finance rather than consumer BNPL, with amounts and tenors tailored

The licences sit within SAMA's regulated finance company framework and remain valid subject to ongoing compliance with the central bank's requirements, including capital adequacy. The expansion gives residents more flexible payment options for higher-value purchases while opening new financing routes for local merchants.
