Al-Haboob Camel Racing Team Lands First Lead Sponsor

Saudi professional camel racing team Al-Haboob announced in August 2026 that it has signed its first lead commercial partner, marking a major step in turning camel racing into a modern, commercially driven sport. The team named Independent Insurance Brokers as its inaugural lead partner, with the sponsor's branding set to appear on team apparel and camel saddle cloths.

Al-Haboob is described as the Kingdom's first officially recognized professional camel racing outfit. It was founded by Saudi entrepreneurs Omar Almaeena and Safwan Modir, and in 2025 footballer Paul Pogba joined as a shareholder and global ambassador, taking an ownership stake in the team.

The team has positioned this agreement as its first lead partnership and a landmark commercial milestone. Al-Haboob's partnership materials highlight branding on racing gear and the camels themselves, team-branded merchandise, and activation zones at race events across Saudi Arabia and the Gulf. Partner packages describe benefits such as logo placement on kits, broadcast visibility, trackside signage, VIP hospitality, and content rights.

Why it matters

Camel racing is a deeply rooted heritage sport in the Kingdom and the wider Gulf, and efforts to professionalize it reflect a broader move to build structured, commercially supported sporting ventures. A lead sponsorship of this kind signals growing interest from brands in heritage sports, alongside the more familiar football and motorsport arenas.

The financial terms of the deal have not been publicly disclosed, and no official fee schedule has been published. Sponsorship, branding, and media activities of this type operate under general commercial and sports regulations rather than a camel-racing-specific approval system, with licensing from the competent sports authority required for the commercial operation of events and facilities.
