Riyadh Region Municipality has launched six community sports tournaments across central Riyadh during September 2026, opening the door for neighborhood residents to compete and to volunteer alongside the events. The tournaments span 11 locations in the city center and welcome all age groups as informal, community-focused activities.
The line-up includes neighborhood football leagues for residents and volunteers, as well as basketball, volleyball, baloot, and dominoes tournaments. More than 15 accompanying events run alongside the leagues, featuring entertainment, educational, and health-awareness activities delivered with the participation of around 40 public, private, and non-profit organizations.
How to Volunteer
Volunteer opportunities for the tournaments are posted and managed through the National Volunteer Platform, which lists each opportunity along with its duration and details. Registration is free, and the service cost for volunteers is 0 SAR.
To take part, volunteers create or log into an account on the National Volunteer Platform, open the Riyadh Municipality volunteer opportunities page via the published link, select a specific opportunity linked to community sports or neighborhood leagues, then submit the required details. The online form asks for name, ID number, phone number, age, email, qualification, gender, nationality, neighborhood, and one to three selected skills. Organizers then send confirmation and assignment details.
The initiative frames community sports as non-professional physical activity for health and social benefit, under the municipality's sports and community engagement programs. Separately, the Neighborhood Clubs Program under the Saudi Sports for All Federation offers volunteering and training opportunities at neighborhood club facilities in Riyadh and other cities. For residents, the tournaments are a chance to stay active, meet neighbors, and gain hands-on experience organizing local events at no cost.
