Over 3 Million Volunteer Hours in Municipal Sector 2026

The municipalities and housing sector recorded more than three million volunteer hours during the first half of 2026, with the participation of over 179,000 volunteers across 6,700 volunteer opportunities and initiatives, reflecting strong community engagement across the Kingdom.

The opportunities were carried out through municipalities, municipal authorities, and housing entities, alongside nonprofit associations and organizations. Initiatives spanned housing services, parks and public facilities, services for pilgrims, environmental safety, roads, and basic infrastructure. Ministry figures for the period show 171,595 volunteers registered under the supervision of the Ministry of Municipalities and Housing.

During the first ten days of Ramadan 2026, the ministry's volunteer system logged 138,560 volunteer hours with more than 9,700 volunteers taking part in field initiatives. These included organizing the headquarters of the Jood Housing Initiative, which served more than 2,500 beneficiaries and facilitated housing support procedures, the distribution of 12,000 iftar meals in streets and public parks, and more than 3,000 field surveys measuring residents' satisfaction with municipal services.

A national public-space volunteering campaign in 2026 brought together 10,213 volunteers who contributed more than 50,000 volunteer hours across all regions, focused on enhancing public spaces and community environments.

Volunteering in the municipal and housing sectors is offered free of charge through official government volunteer platforms and the ministry's volunteer system.
