6,000 Runners Join National Day Run in Historic Jeddah

Around 6,000 Saudis and expatriates took part in the Saudi National Day Run through Historic Jeddah (Al-Balad) in September 2026, filling the district's historic lanes with runners of all ages and fitness levels.

The event was organized by Masafat Club in cooperation with the Ministry of Sports, the Sports for All Federation, and the Jeddah Historic District program. It offered two routes to suit different participants.

The 5-kilometre course was open to professional and amateur runners, while a shorter 2-kilometre course welcomed families and children, making the celebration accessible to the wider community.

Both routes carried participants past Historic Jeddah's distinctive coral-stone buildings and traditional wooden balconies, combining a sporting activity with a tour of one of the Kingdom's most recognizable heritage areas.

Why it matters

Events like this reflect the growing calendar of community sports in the Kingdom, encouraging active, healthy lifestyles while showcasing cultural landmarks. For residents and expats in Jeddah, the run offered an inclusive way to mark the national occasion together, whether competing seriously or simply walking with family.

Current 2026 registration fees, registration steps, the registration channel, bib-collection arrangements, and event validity dates are not confirmed in the information available. Participants are advised to check official channels for the latest details on future editions.
