Riyadh Art unveils 75 permanent public artworks

Riyadh's public art program has confirmed that its permanent collection now includes 75 installed public artworks spread across streets, neighborhoods, parks, public squares, metro and bus stations, bridges, and major routes throughout the city. The initiative operates under the Royal Commission for Riyadh City and was launched in 2019 as one of the four major Riyadh projects tied to رؤية السعودية 2030.

The current collection brings together works by 35 Saudi artists alongside roughly 100 international artists from 45 to 47 countries, making it one of the largest public art efforts of its kind worldwide. The program has also announced plans to add 115 further permanent artworks across Riyadh during 2026 and beyond, working toward a long-term goal of more than 1,000 installations citywide.

Notable works

Among the named pieces in the permanent collection are "Run Beyond" by Italian artist Angelo Bonello, installed on a Riyadh pedestrian bridge, and "Family Tree" by Indian artist Subodh Gupta, placed permanently in مركز الملك عبدالله المالي. A set of fourteen sculptures from the Tuwaiq Sculpture Symposium is displayed at Roshn Front, the SEDRA Community, and along the Sports Boulevard.

The program is built around several ongoing components and festivals, including Riyadh Icon, Welcoming Gateways, Art on the Move, Art in Transit, Noor Riyadh, and Tuwaiq Sculpture. Together they aim to turn Riyadh into what organizers describe as "a gallery without walls," weaving art into residential areas, gardens, transport hubs, and city entrances.

For residents and visitors, the appeal is simple: the permanent artworks are outdoor or publicly accessible installations that are free to view all year round, subject to the normal access rules of each location. As of the latest updates, there are no ticket fees, individual prices, or application procedures required — these works function as everyday urban art rather than ticketed venues.
