Saudi Football Expands Youth Pathway to Ages 6, 11, 17

Football in Saudi Arabia is opening more doors for young players, with expanded competitions now covering the under-17, under-11 and under-6 age groups. The move broadens the country's football pathway and gives children and teenagers more organized opportunities to play and develop.

The expansion spans several stages of a young player's journey, from first steps with a ball at the youngest level through to more competitive teenage football. By adding structured competitions across these age brackets, the pathway aims to keep more children engaged in the game year-round.

Wider participation at grassroots level matters for families across the Kingdom. It creates clearer routes for talented players to progress, while also encouraging regular activity, teamwork and healthy habits among children who may never pursue football professionally.

For residents and expat families in cities such as Riyadh and Jeddah, expanded youth competitions can mean more accessible ways to get children involved in sport. Building activity into daily life from a young age supports the wider national push to raise participation in sport and community life.
