Air India has extended the cancellation of its flights to and from Saudi Arabia, affecting services connecting Riyadh, Jeddah, and Dammam. The cancellations now remain in effect through 20 October 2026, impacting travellers planning trips on the airline during this period.
Passengers whose flights are affected are eligible for a full refund. The process for requesting the refund depends on how the ticket was originally purchased.
How to request a refund
Travellers who booked directly through Air India's website or app can request their refund through the Manage Booking section. Those who booked via a travel agent or a third-party website should contact the same agent or website to process the refund. Passengers who bought their tickets at an Air India ticket office need to request the refund at the same office.
Refunds are credited back to the original payment account. If that account has been closed or is no longer valid, passengers may provide alternative bank details for the refund to be processed. Those who booked through the website or app can also track the progress of their request using the airline's refund-status service.
For residents and expats in the Kingdom, it is worth noting that this is an airline refund and not a government procedure. No Saudi government fee, Absher step, Muqeem step, or validity period applies to the process. Travellers with upcoming bookings on the affected routes are advised to check their flight status and begin their refund request through the appropriate channel as soon as possible.
