New Deal Aims to Boost Volunteering in Saudi Arabia

A new agreement has been signed to expand volunteering and strengthen the nonprofit sector across Saudi communities. The National Center for Non-Profit Sector (NCNP) concluded a Memorandum of Understanding on 1 September 2026 aimed at creating more volunteer opportunities and boosting the role of licensed volunteer organizations.

the agreement focuses on three main goals: opening up volunteer opportunities for Saudi volunteers, increasing the visibility and engagement of licensed volunteer organizations, and supporting joint learning, training, and knowledge-sharing between the two sides.

The cooperation is institutional in nature rather than a public fee-based service. For that reason, no fee or price in Saudi Riyal is associated with the agreement, and the available information does not identify a public application channel for individuals to sign up through.

Why it matters for the community

Volunteering has become an increasingly visible part of everyday life in the Kingdom, giving residents and citizens practical ways to contribute to their neighborhoods and to national causes. By supporting licensed organizations and building shared training programs, the agreement is designed to make volunteer work more organized, accessible, and impactful.

The known steps ahead include ongoing cooperation between NCNP and the partner organization, the creation of new volunteer opportunities, direct support for licensed volunteer bodies, and joint training and knowledge-sharing activities. No validity period or expiration date for the agreement has been stated.

The topic remains current, with NCNP's official volunteer-related information updated in 2026. Saudi Living will continue to follow developments and share any details on how community members may be able to take part.
